Adult Beginner 102 classes begin September 10, 2018 and end December 10, 2018. They take place every Monday from 6:30 p.m. - 8:15 p.m.

Who should take this class?
Students ages 14+, who have
Successfully completed the Adult Beginner 101 class OR
Are already proficient with all skills taught in the Adult Beginner 101 class but still need to build a strong foundation
* Students under 18 years old must provide written permission from a parent or guardian prior to enrolling.
* Students who have not previously taken the Beginner 101 class but are eligible for the Beginner 102 class will be admitted on a case-by-case basis. Please inquire further here.
What do students learn?
Numbers, colors, days of week, months, telling time
Listening comprehension through lyrical Vietnamese music
- Pronunciation and reading skills with short passages and stories
Meet your teacher, Bình Minh
Bình Minh came to New York City three years ago, when she immersed herself in teaching Vietnamese at the Vietnam Heritage Center and participating in the cultural events. She encourages students to learn more about Vietnamese culture through music and film to supplement the class. She acts as a bridge for people to feel closer to Vietnam and help Vietnamese-American to shorten the language gap with their family members. She reads Vietnamese books to improve her own vocabulary.
Weeks 1-3: Review basic concepts from 101 and vocabulary
Weeks 4-6: Colors, reading excerpts, sentence structure, mid-term
Weeks 7-9: Learning songs, common phrases, conversational skits
Weeks 10-12: Writing letters, reading comprehension, final

Assessments will take the form of homework, quizzes, teamwork, and in-class participation.
Class materials include the textbook Tiếng Việt, Vietnamese for Beginners Volume 1 by Phan Văn Giưỡng, which is provided for students. Students are expected to bring their own writing supplies, including paper, pencils, erasers, etc.
